Fiber Optic Installation

We offer the highest quality fiber optic cable termination on the planet. We use state of the art fusion splicing technology to ensure the connections we make are at the absolute minimum light loss through the fiber. See some of the benefits of fusion splicing below.

  • Speed – Most fusion splicing machines can fuse two fibers together in 7-9 seconds.
  • Non Toxic – No chemical compounds such as epoxy or glue used to make connections
  • Quality – Light loss through a fused connection is virtually non-existent. Usually .05db-.10db

Testing/Analysis

We use a variety of methods to test our fiber optic cable termination depending on the circumstance. When searching for a fault in a patch cord or damaged connector, we may use a visual fault locator which is simply a laser shining through the fiber so it can be seen with the naked eye. Before we turn a cable over to you however, we perform OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) testing on each strand. This gives us an in-depth look at each strand and an overall picture of the fiber itself. This tells us where any impurities or imperfections are located along the glass. There are inherently tiny flaws in every strand but with this data, we have a good idea where a problem may lie in the future.

Repairs

With the same OTDR equipment we use in initial installation, we are able to pinpoint where a cable has been damaged. Using the OTDR, saves time and money locating a fault. We can then remove the damaged section and repair as needed with minimal downtime to the cable.
